Eclipse Laboratories

Eclipse Laboratories is a venture-backed blockchain infrastructure company founded in 2022. It builds Eclipse, described as Ethereum's first Layer 2 powered by the Solana Virtual Machine. The network combines the Solana Virtual Machine's execution performance with Ethereum's liquidity and ecosystem, allowing developers to build applications that scale without choosing between the two. Eclipse mainnet launched in Q2 2024.

Work centres on Layer 2 scaling, smart contract execution environments, high-throughput performance optimisation and Ethereum ecosystem integration. The company operates with a small team - small enough, in its own words, that everyone ships code that matters - and has been iterating on the network since mainnet launch. Its technical staff include people with prior roles at Airbnb, Citadel and research institutions.

Applications span decentralised finance, gaming and consumer products. The engineering focus is on maintaining high throughput without sacrificing security. Eclipse Laboratories operates remotely and is growing, with an emphasis on deep technical work and quick iteration.
