Energy Recovery, Inc. designs and manufactures energy-efficiency technology, most notably pressure exchanger solutions, for water and industrial fluid-flow markets. Founded in 1992 with the aim of making seawater desalination affordable worldwide, the company is headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, with manufacturing and research facilities in California and a global customer base. It is publicly traded on NASDAQ under the ticker ERII.

The company's flagship product, the PX Pressure Exchanger, uses advanced ceramic rotor technology to capture and transfer pressure energy within fluid-flow systems. This allows customers to cut energy consumption, reduce operating costs and lower carbon emissions. Facilities using Energy Recovery technology clean some 43.6 million cubic metres of water per day, and the company estimates its products help customers avoid roughly 22.5 million metric tons of carbon emissions a year.
